Welcome to the Mille Lacs Lake Watershed Management Group!

We’re connecting people to our land and waters.

Mille Lacs Lake, located in east central Minnesota, is a crown jewel among Minnesota lakes.  Mille Lacs has been recognized as one of the premier walleye-producing lakes in the world!  The lake enjoys relatively good water quality and provides excellent recreational opportunities.

Preserving our water quality begins on land.

Still, Mille Lacs waters are vulnerable. Fertilization of the lake continues from natural causes and human development of the shoreline and watershed.  New threats are emerging from the introduction of aquatic invasive species.

The Mille Lacs Lake Watershed Management Group was formed in 1997 in an effort to mitigate these threats to water quality. Since that time we have received grants from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources, and many other partners.  Funds have been used to assist landowners with projects that protect and improve water quality, to provide educational opportunities for landowners in the watershed, and to monitor water quality.

The Watershed Group typically meets on the third Monday of each month.  The meetings are open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend.
